The phrase "Pay to Click" or "Pay per Click" (PTC / PPC) is one of the widely used "work online scheme" that promises sure earnings. Many people are lured thinking how easy and simple it is to earn money online. Let's take a closer look and of what PTC is. Does it really let you earn money? And what effects does this have.
Every time I check online ads about "work online", I kept getting PTC offers saying "Earn BIG Money Online" somehow they want the readers to get an impression of easy work and big pay...Is this true? Are they offering a real deal?
First, let's understand what PTC is and how it works. Let's make an example, Let's say a person named "John" is selling apples. John made a website to advertise his apples and to attract more customers. A few months later, John is not getting any orders from his website. He decided to put "Banner Ads" and placed them at other websites. He is hoping that people visiting other websites will also go to his website if they click his banner ads.
Putting a banner to a different website is not free, it cost money. And this is where PTC enters, Pay to click is used on websites where advertisers pay their host only when their ad is clicked. For every time a customer clicks John's banner, He gets a prospect customer and in return he pays a small amount for the PTC. Sounds good right? maybe not, read more this gets interesting.
The logic is every time John's ad gets clicked he pays a small amount of money right? In order for the people who are advertising his ad to earn money from him, they'll need people to click his ad. The problem here is people clicking those ads are not customers, they are not even interested with John's apple. They are people "Paid to Click". Since they earn a very little amount per click, they need to click almost all day or recruit more people to click multiple ads just to earn money.
This scheme is hurting business like John's and probably will not be interested paying Ads for PTC anymore. Some of this Business fights fire with fire, they know about PTC and they know it's a risk. So what they do is they recruit people to click their ads, promising money but in the end they don't pay. From recent research as of 2010, 90% of PTC are fakes & scams.
So to summarize PTC:
Q. Do I earn money from PTC?
A. If you are able to get the 10% legitimate PTC payers, yes.
Q. Can I earn a lot of money by PTC ?
A. Not unless you have more than 24hrs a day.
Q. Is this a good source of stable income?
A. No
Q. Am I helping other business by doing PTC on their ads.
A. No, unless you are a real customer.
Okay, so I guess I have somehow gave you guys an overview about PTC and how it works. See you on the next post.

Internet usage population 2009
Since internet is our market, I want to show you guys how many people are online as per statistics:
According to Internet World Stats, the population of the world was estimated to be around 6.76 billions in December of 2009, an increase of 0.86 percentage from December 2008. Where as world wide internet users reached 1.80 billions by December 2009 with a growth rate of 14.5 percent compared to its previous year. There is an increase in number of Internet users every year according to the statistics.
"This only means that more than one out of every four person is an internet user!"
Reaseach shows that North America is dominating the world regions with highest internet usage rate, which is more than 75 percent. The total number of internet users in North America are more than 259 millions with 76.2 percent penetration rate. Countries like United States and Canada which belong to this geographic location have internet penetration rate at around 75 percent. After North America, Australia and Europe were holding second and third positions with 60.8 percent and 53 percent of penetration rate respectively.
When it comes to highest number of internet users worldwide, Asia stands at the top. More than 42 percentage of the total internet users are from Asia. But the internet penetration rate in Asia is low around 20 percent. It's poor usage rate may be due to the most populous countries like China (internet usage rate-26 percent) and India (internet usage rate-7 percent) which belong to this geographic location.
With this constant growth, we can expect a more larger market and more stable growth with online bussiness!
